Frut's mission site goes dark, leaving players mid-mission

The fan-made site behind many players' Turf missions has stopped responding. Players who were halfway through are stuck, while other fan tools keep growing.

Frut, the fan-made site at frut.zundin.se where many players followed their Turf missions, has stopped working. When Turf Herald tried the site on 29 October it did not respond, although its address still points to a server.

For some players the timing is bad. One player on the Turf Discord wrote on 27 October that the outage hit just as they were closing in on the end of a mission: taking every zone in their city in alphabetical order. They had reached the letter U, and now have to wait to finish.

Why the site is down is not clear. Another player said they had heard that the person behind Frut has stepped away from Turf and that the site may not come back. Turf Herald has not been able to confirm this.

Where players are looking instead

Several players pointed to TurfTracker, a newer fan site at turftracker.se, which can show much of what Frut showed. Its front page offers player profiles, pages for zones, areas and regions, global statistics, leaderboards and tournaments for verified players. It does not mention missions, so it is no direct replacement for the alphabetical challenge.

That gap sparked ideas. On 28 October one player sketched a mission system where anyone can build a mission from a set of zones and share it in a public list. Missions would have a minimum and a maximum number of zones, and the zones could be sorted alphabetically or in a custom order, for example as a guided sightseeing tour. The player argued that Frut's weak spot was that only its admin could create missions. The player stuck at U liked the idea, but pointed out that a new app would not help finish missions already under way.

Manskatten adds a timeline and round forecasts

Meanwhile another fan site is expanding. Manskatten.com announced "big improvements" on 27 October. A new timeline on its Medals and goals page lists a player's Turf history in order, from the first zone to medals, rank-ups, event medals and Bonanza medals, and players can fill in dates for older medals themselves.

The site also forecasts your points at the end of the round in four ways: from your current points per hour, the last 24 hours, the last seven days and the whole round. Every reading is saved, so once the October round ends on 1 November at 11:00 UTC, players can see which forecast came closest.
